Fan quilt swap

Over at Lineweaving.com we had another fun swap in the quilt series some time ago. This time, we got a fan template, which we were to fill with tangles, send to the hostess and receive back some beautiful artwork from around the world!

And these are the pieces (I mounted them on blue cardstock) that I found in my mailbox! Since a few swappers had to drop out, you'll see I got my own quarter circle and big part back...

Hier kan je de vierde beginners weekuitdaging vinden: Randen. Een rand rond je werkje, maakt het helemaal af en met deze BEWE konden we een paar (nieuwe) border-patroontjes uitproberen.

Ornation Creation

Hey all,

As mentioned in this post, I also sometimes work on a template from the Ornation Creation page on Facebook (you can find the link to his Facebook group in the original post). Ben Kwok is an amazing artist who takes lineweaving to the next level! Every monday he posts a new template (mostly animals) for us to tangle. 

Of course I had to try some of them and here are 2 templates I have finished so far:

001 - Flycatcher

006 - Squirrel

They were a lot of fun to work on and I am going to try more of these. They do, however, take a lot of time to finish, so I won't post these very regularly...

Beginners weekuitdaging 3

Hier ben ik weer!

De derde beginners weekuitdaging (of kort BEWE) was van een heel ander kaliber... Deze keer niet binnen het vierkant, maar binnen de cirkel. De uitdaging vind je hier. De opdracht was om binnen een mandala een aantal bloem- of plantachtige patroontjes uit te proberen.

Verdigogh, Pokeleaf, Fleurette, Pokeroot, Lilypads, Hanging garden

Ik probeer toch om elke keer zoveel mogelijk van de "opgelegde" patroontjes te gebruiken. Door binnen de cirkel te werken, kon je zelf kiezen hoeveel vlakken je creëerde, wat dat alweer makkelijker maakte.

De patronen die we moesten gebruiken, waren er die ik zelf eigenlijk raar of zelden kies in een tangle. Tijdens deze uitdaging kon ik ze dan toch eventjes oefenen. 

Waar ik wel problemen mee had, was om de patroontjes netjes in elkaar te laten overvloeien, ik vind niet dat ik daar erg in geslaagd ben... Ook het evenwicht tussen licht en donker heb ik nog niet helemaal onder de knie, vind ik. Werkpuntjes dus, waar ik zonder deze uitdaging niet zo gauw achter zou gekomen zijn!

Tea cups

Hi all!

As I mentioned in my previous post, Cindy over at lineweaving.com set up a new collaboration project where all participants have to tangle a teacup set (one left and one right tea cup) for every other participant. She will then bind them all in a booklet which you get sent back to you (filled with lovely art from all other tanglers)!

I took pictures of the black & white versions, but forgot to take some of all the finished ones (sorry), so here they are:

So there they are. All done and sent to our hostess; now we wait till we receive a big envelope in the mail - and I hate waiting...!

Beginners Weekuitdaging 2

De eerste weekuitdaging ging eigenlijk zo vlot, dat ik de volgende dag alweer aan de slag ging met de volgende!

Je kan de tweede beginners weekuitdaging hier vinden.

Inapod, Fish net, Hollibaugh, Sanibelle

Ik was vooral verrast dat de Sanibelle zo geslaagd was. In het begin vond ik het maar niks, maar met de schaduw (opnieuw: schaduw toont erg slecht op de foto, maar ik heb geen scanner) fleurt Sanibelle helemaal op!

Ik heb ervoor gekozen om Inapod niet gelijk met de string te laten lopen, omdat ik toch wilde proberen om dit patroon te gebruiken in een groter vlak.

Al bij al ben ik best wel tevreden over het resultaat!

Art-tangle: Beginners Weekuitdaging 1

Onlangs ontdekte ik een nieuwigheidje (of toch nieuw voor mij): Clubs.nl

Daar kwam ik algauw uit op dé tangle-club bij uitstek voor Nederlandstaligen: http://art-tangle.clubs.nl/

Magda - de beheerster - heeft daar ook voor beginnende tanglers een aantal uitdagingen gepost, 20 in totaal. Elke uitdaging focust op één bepaald deeltje van het tanglen, zij het nieuwe patroontjes, nieuwe strings, nieuwe manieren om patroontjes te gebruiken, ... 

Toen ik deze week de slaap niet kon vatten, ben ik er maar meteen ingevlogen en ziehier het resultaat!

Buttercup, Keeko, Lightning bolt, Vache 1

De eerste uitdaging vind je hier: Aurora's Droomwerelden.

Dit is niet mijn beste werk, maar het kan ermee door. Het schaduwen van Buttercup was niet zo simpel - en de schaduw in het algemeen is niet zo duidelijk zichtbaar - maar het was een leuke oefening. 

Het feit dat je bij de basis van Zentangle begint (vierkantje met kader en een string), maakt het overzichtelijker en je hebt houvast voor het verloop van je werkje.

A years worth in one post...

Wow, it has been over a year since I last posted something here! A lot has happened since then. (Most importantly the crash of my computer with all work-related documents AND all pictures of my drawings...) But first things first:

I've made a lot of stuff since last year, but haven't had made the time to upload them and update this blog until now.

* I've updated the Ninna Challenge with some pics of 3 of the challenges.

* I made some fun name-art pages (or at least I found them fun to do):

* I participated in a collaboration project at lineweaving.com forums: Tea cups! (I'll make a new post with pics of those.)

And I already have another project waiting from the same forums.

* Over at Ornation Creation, Ben Kwok posts a new template to tangle every monday. He is a very talented artist, you should really check out some of his work! I am waaaaaay behind on those (they're already at template nr. 42; I finished 2...), but they are a lot of fun to try out new patterns and colours (pics will follow)!

* I joined a new art-tangle club as well recently, which offers beginner challenges. I started doing those as well (pics will follow).

As you can see: a lot of stuff done, a lot of new ideas waiting. There are still a few projects I'm working out in my head, and a few I still need to work out on paper.

My next posts will consist of pictures I have of all tangly things I've made so far!
